Using MediaCorders with Microsoft MediaCenter's couldn't be any simpler. Once MediaCenter is up. Simply insert a cartridge. Depending on what you put on your MediaCorder, MediaCenter will automatically sense what you have and display a message box.
Pressing music will queue up all music on the cartridge, regardless of how you arranged the folders, MediaCenter will find it. Since it can hold upwards of 80GB of music, this would be the equivalent of a several weeks of continuous music.
Pressing Videos will send you to the "My Videos" with just your video content. And pressing Pictures will send you to the "My Pictures" area with just your images.
Assuming you had some music content on a cartridge, below is a snapshot of what it looks like if you pressed "Music".
You will notice that a cover image has popped up, MediaCenter will automatically find the cover and artist information for your songs and display this for you.
If you had pressed "Videos" and you had recorded some shows, below is what it might have looked like.
Once again MediaCenter uploads a cover image for your videos if they came from a broadcast recorded from MediaCenter. You may provide your own images if you like and MediaCenter will display them.
And of course pressing "Pictures" presents you with the "My Pictures" window. In this case, it only found the images for the recorded shows.
If your a fan of collecting shows. MediaCenter with MediaCorder makes for unlimited recording. Each cartridge holds 80GB, with standard resolution shows, MediaCenter records a normal 1/2 hr show using around 1 gigabyte or less. Using its normal compression. This gives you approximately 80 shows you can record on one cartridge.
This will easily hold several seasons worth of your favorite show! Imagine recording the entire years worth of Discovery channel or History Channel. Or the entire collection of Zienfeld. Or capture the entire TwilightZone Marathon. Able to recall any show anytime you want, all on a single cartrige.
Since they are removable anytime, you can change and swap cartridges while MediaCenter is running. This allows you to pop in your HistoryChannel cartridge when it's time to record, and swap out for DiscoveryChannel when its on. With this hotswap method, your able to keep your cartridges sorted by show, or channel. Of course you can just record everything on one cartridge. But you might want to keep certain shows you have recorded separate from others such as one for the kids and one for the adults.
MediaCorders can also be used with Windows Home Server, create the ultimate OnDemand Movie system for your entire houseold. Stream movies to the living room and simultaneously to every room in the house.
